How to get to Heidelberg

By motorway

Coming from A5, change to the A656 direction Heidelberg at the motorway intersection Heidelberg; coming from the A 6, change to the A656 at the motorway intersection Mannheim.

By train to Heidelberg main station

Heidelberg can be reached via the Deutsche Bahn intercity connection, EC, ICE, regional trains and S-bahn.

It is also very covenient to take the ICE train to Mannheim and the S-Bahn connection from Mannheim main train station to Heidelberg.

How to get to the “Neuenheimer Feld”

Coming from the motorway:

Turn left towards “Chirurgie” at the end of the motorway. Having crossed the Neckar on Ernst-Waltz-Brücke turn left to the institutes.

Coming from Neckargemünd:

Follow Uferstrasse, then turn into Posseltstraße; having turned left into Jahnstraße, finally turn left to reach Im Neuenheimer Feld 410.

There are adequate parking spaces available on the hospital grounds for a charge (maximum € 7/day)

Public Transport to the “Neuenheimer Feld”

Starting from Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof West (Main Station) take the bus line 32 going to Neuenheimer Feld. Get off at “Medical Departments”. The Krehl-Klinik will be right next to the bus station across the street.

It is possible to buy tickets from the driver or vending machines at the bus station. Please make sure you can pay with cash, since the vendor machines do not accept card payment.

For the public transport you can either buy a “Mehrfahrtenticket” (multiple-ride-ticket for 5 rides  (tariff: 0 or City)) or a 3-day ticket (tariff: 1-3 / City / 21) for 16.60 € .For further information, please see https://www.vrn.de/tickets/ticketkauf/online/index.html. Traveling by plane

From Frankfurt Main Airport there are several options to go to Heidelberg:

By train ICE to Heidelberg (Deutsche Bahn), about 50 minutes. You have to change trains in Mannheim.
By Frankfurt Airport Shuttles to the Crowne Plaza Hotel Heidelberg. The bus takes 60 minutes to Heidelberg and requires reservation ahead (Frankfurt Airport Shuttles).
By TLS Shuttle Service (1 h ride). You can also book an individual transfer, the TLS Service is a door-to-door service.

From Stuttgart Airport you can take the train to Heidelberg main station (Deutsche Bahn). It takes 90 minutes by IC. Another possibility is the Airport Shuttle-Service Stuttgart. This is an individual car transfer which requires reservation (travel time: 90 minutes).

From Frankfurt Hahn Airport please take one of buses for Heidelberg main station. Reservation is not required except for groups of 5 or more persons (at least 3 work days in advance). Please note that there is no connection by train from Hahn to Heidelberg. Please note that the transfer time from Frankfurt Hahn to Heidelberg takes 2 to 3 hours.
